IPTA Code of Ethics
The primary responsibility of the IPTA and its membership is to foster advancement of the industry according to this mission statement:

"To promote the growth of the payphone industry and to encourage ethical business practices and standards in public communications"

Therefore, in support of this mission, member companies subscribe to this statement of business principles.

  1. Maintain active involvement and support of the IPTA.

  2. Utilize every opportunity to improve public understanding, acceptance and use of the products of the payphone industry.

  3. Shall encourage advantageous State and Federal legislation and regulation.

  4. Shall not knowingly violate any State, Federal or International Law or trade agreements in the manufacture, marketing, distribution or use of coin payphones.

  5. Shall not disseminate any disparaging information or charges about other companies or individuals in the industry.

  6. Use only legal and ethical business practices in connection with industry relationships.

  7. Recognize and practice any standard guidelines established by the industry that relate to telephone quality and performance for customers.

  8. Determine that advertising claims for services of products can be verified by relevant technical information, research or statistics.

  9. Refrain from issuing performance claims for any products that have not been adequately tested nor suggest or imply results that may not be produced during normal consumer use.

  10. Exercise due caution regarding statements or comments about controversial matters of current public importance, such as regulatory or competitive matters realted to phone operation.

  11. Continuously practice and promote the basic spirit and intent of this Code of Ethics.
